Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Commemorated 20 Years of Service in Congress at the National AIDS Memorial
The National AIDS Memorial a Special Workday with Congresswoman and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to commemorate her 20 years of service representing the people of San Francisco in Congress. Coffee and continental breakfast will be served.
Ten years ago we came together with Congresswoman Pelosi for a tree planting in the Grove to commemorate her first decade of work in Congress to fight HIV/AIDS and to help people seeking lifesaving treatments. Now with renewed commitment, we are honored to welcome her back to the Grove to mark her 20th anniversary in Congress and to congratulate her for making history by being elected Speaker of the House.
Congresswoman Pelosi has made fighting HIV/AIDS one of her highest priorities. In 1996, she authored legislation that designated San Francisco's AIDS Memorial Grove a national memorial. This historic, national status honors the thousands of Americans who have died so tragically of AIDS, and recognizes the Grove's significance for those living with HIV, their loved ones and caregivers.
