Recipient of the Pedro Zamora young leaders Scholarship

Throughout his undergraduate studies at Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi, Antwan worked to help underserved communities, creating a student-led health organization, Peer HEALTH Educators, to redefine the philosophy of health in communities of color.

Today, Antwan is a board member of the National AIDS Memorial and works as the HIV Navigator at GlideSF, a nonprofit organization that serves vulnerable populations in San Francisco.

Antwan’s overall objectives are to continue his education in public health, law, and medicine to create holistic approaches to meld social determinants and medicine for positive outcomes in marginalizing populations.

“I love the idea of being in a position where my innovative ideas and modules are put into place within our society to establish reliable opportunities, resources, and funding…I am steered in the direction of helping to promote change as well as being proactive for change.”

40 years of stories

We share the important story of AIDS --

the fear, stigma and discrimination. We share the stories of hope, courage, compassion, and love.  And, we bring to light the harsh reality that four decades later, there is no cure and the rates of infection are on the rise, particularly in communities of color.
