BOULDERS, CRESCENTS & BENCHES

Throughout the Grove there are touching tributes to people and organizations touched by AIDS.  These unique inscriptions are a way to leave a heartfelt message, which may or may not include one or more individual names. See list of names and organizations listed on boulders, crescents and benches

CRESCENTS

The Crescents are located at the south entryway to the Grove’s Dogwood Crescent, adjacent to and on the outer rim of the Circle of Friends. The three Crescent opportunities, in addition to being engraved in larger letters than names engraved the Circle of Friends (which are 1-1/8″ high), allow for personalized inscriptions of up to 60 characters in length. The engraving order deadline this year is September 15, 2024. Engravings will take place in advance of World AIDS Day, December 1, 2024.

BENCHES

These custom designed benches are situated throughout the memorial and present a unique opportunity to inscribe a personal message on either one or both of the end caps. Made of durable “Vetter” stone pedestals with an Alaskan Cedar wooden bench, this is a moving way to leave a prominent tribute within the Memorial. Inscriptions may be up to 60 characters (including spaces), not to exceed 3 engraved lines, per end cap.

BOULDERS

Made of Sierra granite, boulders are placed throughout the Memorial’s 10-acres. This is another beautiful way to leave a prominent tribute within the Memorial. Inscriptions may be up to 60 characters (including spaces), not to exceed 5 engraved lines.

“Thousands of people have died in San Francisco, millions in the world. The point of the National AIDS Memorial Grove is to remember them, one at a time.”
